Progressive Rotting Christ? - 69%

Lomedin, April 29th, 2009

This album could have been released by Rotting Christ. It's not like the old RC, but rather like those releases where you find a bit of dark/gothic metal mixed with black. Seriously, not only the voice sounds almost the same, you can recognise some weird similar accent too (fortunately, not much, so we are save from that horrible accent found in RC speaking parts).

Now, I personally find this album better than those "gothic" RC albums. Don’t get me wrong, there is no gothic music here (thank god). This is progressive black with some doomish atmosphere. There's more variety here than in RC too, and a well used keyboard to create atmosphere. The themes are also different and original, nature and the planet instead of that satanist crap (sorry, it’s sometimes too typical for me) and cries because you lost your beloved one.
I'd say that Rain created here what RC didn’t do, progression; through the songs as well as the album as a whole. This release didn't bother me and offered enough lack of similarities between their songs to keep me interested (something that RC hardly achieves).

So, I hate to compare stuff, I really do. But since this album could have been another RC creation and this band is better known than Rain, I hope this will help readers understand what I'm talking about here.

Alas, if you like Rotting Christ, get this. If you'd like RC with a bit more of variety and progression, get it too.
