Decaying Form - Chronicles of Decimation

Awesome and twisted sound, but it lacks of bass - 78%

sahinto, January 4th, 2012

I got this CD when I listened to one track on Youtube and I really got kind of ''engaged'' this fabulous two-man project. However, I didn't really listened to it because my speakers were kind of crappy.

Anyway, I bought it and when I first put the cd into my player I was like ''damn, this is awesome...'', but something was actually missing. I looked to the booklet as I wanted to see the 'band' members. Although the booklet itself was really poor (just two photos), the members were shown and those were just vocals, guitar, and drums. Then I realized it's the bass that's missing. There's no depth at all in the sound of the album.

However, I didn't mark this album with a 78% because I felt like that at the moment. The only downside of it has already been said. Let's point the upsides out. Decaying Form really brings to the scene something new in the brutal death genre, which is that strangely-played guitar tone. As you can see in the main title, the album itself is really twisted and addictive with no order at all in the structure of all the songs. Personally, I like this thing as it's a new way for me to see brutality in a song. Just disorder. The drums are really good work, following in a perfect way those fast guitar riffs. The vocals are one of the most piggy ones I've ever heard. Sometimes on the album you can get to listen to some really little parts that remind of doom metal.

In conclusion, if you like those brutal death bands that are kind of related to grindcore, you should really take a listen to this weird, but good band. Try to support them by buying their cd as I did. They definitely deserve it.
