Decayed - Resurrectiónem Mortuórum

It's ok... - 73%

Decayed have cobbled a solid but slightly dissapointing record with "Resurrectiónem Mortuórum". The band is tight and the playing leaves no major issues in terms of quality, also to note that the production is a bit weak as it prevents many of the individual riffs to find a solid place in the mix. The lends a sense of confusion to the whole affair that the band should have chosen to avoid. With some bands it creates atmosphere - with this band it deadens the whole mood/delivery. The neato intros do sound positively evil with this sound but the actual songs suffer a bit. This is certainly solid for what the band does but I find much room for improvement on this.

This record suffers a bit of the "it all sounds the same" syndrome. A few songs such as "Archdemon", "Fuck Your God!" and "By the Candlelight" have unique moments but the drum patterns and soft mix don't allow the songs to show anything too diverse. They do have great introductions that set a certain mood, but the kick in sections become "one and the same" if you don't have the time or patience to take the five or six listens you need to get it all cleared up in your mind. Nothing is WRONG with these songs, but nothing really stands out about them either when compared to one another.

Decayed certainly entertain at a base level with this release because they could have put a little more attention to giving the songs a bit more variation than they display on this release. It's good but not exactly something I'd spend more than eight dollars on at the same time.
