Desire - Locus Horrendus - The Night Cries of a Sullen Soul...

Such great atmosphere - 100%

Plague, March 10th, 2006

This album is one of my personal favorites of the melodic doom genre. The piano tone is beautiful. The guitars are crushingly heavy with beautiful melodies to match. The vocalist does a great job... very intense and emotional, with good clean vocals and great low growls. The keyboardist on this album plays so beautifully... you can almost feel his emotion just listening to the album. I've never really heard an album with such great surreal atmosphere... it's like an experience of sorrow and anger that most albums wish they could portray. These lyrics are so depressing and filled with despair... it's one of a kind. One of the best, most unique bands ever.

It doesn't get any better than this. - 100%

Ok, what do we have here? One of the finest doom metal albums ever..every song here is slow for most of the time and has an atmosphere capable of taking you to dreamland...to wherever you want.
The growls are very deep and strong and in what the instruments are concerned..nothing here is too complex..actually...everything's quite simple but very very well done...I'd even say that the music here is quite hypnotizing and relaxing, perfect for a rainy day, lights turned off and only the sound of desire.
Personal Highlights are: THE WEEP OF A MOURNFUL DUSK (it has great simple but always great piano parts); DARK ANGEL BIRD and TORN APART.
Doom Metal=My Dying Bride right? Wrong...this has nothing to do with my dying bride...it's different...it's genuine, it's huge.
If you're into doom metal do yourself a favour a listen to this gem...as I said...doom metal doesn't get any better than this...believe me.
