Siculicidium / Funebre - Splitorment

Funelicidium - 70%

What do they want me to do with this?
Every source I consult tells me this split contains 6 tracks, but my cd counts 8. So I don't have a clue which tracks are the wrong ones, whether the last 2, or the first 2. Seen the fact it's also not very striking what Funebre, and what Siculicidium is, it is not very easy to review. The onemanproject Funebre is based upon the musical skills of Khrul, but he's also in Siculicidium, so there's another fact which makes it all quite odd.
Fuck it, I'm going to review it like it's just a normal album. Fuck Siculicidium, fuck Funebre, I'll just call it Funelicidium which made an album called 'Torment'.
So that's a bit easier for me! Tip for the label: make everything a bit more clear for the reviewer, when you don't want to read a review like this.

Now the music itself. Despite all the shitty things I was confrontated with on forehand, the music can't be called bad. This release, existing out of 8 (or 6, whatever) tracks may not be called spectacular, but isn't shitty either. The way of producing the music and writing the music itself can be compared to Baltak. It is disorderly on one hand, but quite good composed on the other. The vocals on all the tracks (with some differents during the album) seem distorted, which gives a chaotic touch to the music.
The drums on all tracks produced by Khrul are horrible. No, not the drumwork itself, but the way it was put together with the rest of the instruments. It's just a total other thing within this music. Positive fact in this release are the atmospheric intermezzo's which can be heared through the album, done by both bands. This release contains a great, hateful atmosphere which is provided by both bands. That's making this release worth to listen, but musically? No, both sides doesn't seem so special to me...
The general impression? Just another release, which will be overloaded by all the other standard releases...

Edited on the 20th of september: I received hatemail! It should all be clear that the last tracks are bonustracks, since it is printed on the added promotionmaterial. Well, I haven't received a promosheet. Besides that there is a very striking difference between these two bands, according to not to mention people. Well, I can imagine that all the tracks were made by the same persons, seen the not spectacular differences between those two. This is a response to the mail which said "If you didn't hear the difference between the 2 bands, stop writing reviews on the Vampire Magazine! Or you didn't read the promo papers!" You should know that some bands release albums on which tracks are completely different compared to the others, but still made by the same band.
When things are not clear to me, I'm not willing to give it a proper review I should. Despite all this, I didn't even write so negative about the album itself, I considered it as standard, but fine. It is not only the fact that the differences between the two bands weren't so obvious as people say, it's also the missing information that made me write that, so stop complaining.
