Gerbophilia - Vomicide volontaire

Gerbophilia - Vomicide Volontaire - 40%

Phuling, April 23rd, 2008

I’m not really sure I get this band. To me this is just like any other grindcore band out there, lacking any kind of originality and creativity, and with nothing that sets them apart from the rest of the grinders. But since this is a compilation of old stuff originally released on other labels in the past I suppose someone has to appreciate it.

Musically it varies from crusty to metallic grindcore, and vocally it’s screaming, growling, grunting from both guys and gals. The sound quality goes from decent to just plain awful in between songs, and so does the performance by the musicians. They don’t always have their instruments under complete control, and it’s often lacking tightness.

If you like Destroy but think they’re too exciting, and want something a bit more boring - then Gerbophilia’s for you. The best thing on here is the schizoid and seriously disturbing outro, mixing robotic voices with repeated growling and 80ies synth-rock.
