Spirit Caravan - Jug Fulla Sun

Sabbalicious! Wino's Best - 100%

Dark_Mewtwo1, May 17th, 2005

I'm sorry, but I love doom metal. That being said, I don't worship Black Sabbath at all. I can't stand Ozzy Osbourne. I think he's always been a crappy vocalist. Now, what in the hell does this have to do with Spirit Caravan's Jug Fulla Sun album you say? Simple friends. This album sounds like a long lost Master of Reality demo with a better vocalist over Ozzy. IMO, Wino Weinrich sounds great, and the thirteen songs on this debut album just leave everything Wino and his bands have recorded in the past, and in fact, present. And for me, ME, to be the only person to give this album a review so far is a damn shame.

The album has everything you look for in a stoner/doom band. Wino's guitars are in great sync with the bass playing of Dave Sherman, and Gary Isom's drums keep the slow plod trademark of the stoner/doom movement. Many of the songs are bass heavy, which aids your high (believe me, I can attest to this, and not just with their drug of choice ;)). The songs obviously range from the fantasy sychosis of drug-enduced euphoria, withdrawal, and the like. Wino's vocals are fantastic. Although they are very VERY Ozzy influenced, he adds a nice clean tone to his vocals that set him apart from his influence. They do a great job in pounding you into more of a haze, and for those of you that love that sort of stuff, this just further helps you. (So, in short: Stoners! GO BUY NOW!). If you love Sabbath, this is your record. It's perfect in every way, it can't disappoint you at all.
