Juggernott - Necessary Evil

Zero Diversity.... - 71%

cronosmantas, March 31st, 2005

I bougth this CD on a whim when I ran across the band's website by accident. The band themselves looked like true metallers and and the CD title cover was oh so cool. Another reason why I bought it is because I like to support small, up and coming metal bands and Juggernott looked like.

When I first stuck on the CD, I knew I had bought a true metal disc. The production was very crisp and clear for an independant release and the bands sound captivated me at first by being pretty damn close to thrash.

The first song Time has Come kicked major ass, but by the fourth track I started to get a little disappointed. There was no diversity! All the songs sound the same! Pretty soon I couldn't tell on song from the next. The vocals, though not bad, also have a bit to be desired. Though he doesn't have the best voice, I still think it's cool the drummer is the vocalist as you don't find that very much in metal, or in any other genre for that reason.

Overall it wasn't a bad disc, but with the lack of diversity present, it left a lot to be desired. I like the bands true metal roots and their thrash like sound, so I hope for the best from them in the future. It is true that we need more bands in the vein of Juggernott to help drown out all the poser, mallcore fake-metal present today.

Here's for a better album in the future....
