Anal Stench - Red Revolution

Republic kiss my ass! - 95%

Coldness_of_winter, May 8th, 2005

How to treat Anal Stench? Is this a serious band or just provocational joke served to us by musicians of merited polish bands like Sceptic, Thy Disease, Decapitated and Virgin Snatch? Musically this is a mature album, with good rhythmical section, but when we will get into lyrics or interviews we think that Anal Stench is sneering with everything.

Already cover and intro gives us conviction about what the album will be. Communism is the main topic of this release. I wonder why did Anal Stench decided to move this way? At their first album they didn’t had any philosophy in their music. They just played clear, unquestionable death metal with funny lyrics and two covers. Now we hear them praising the most controversial political system, which majority of polish society hate (“Soon we shall, soon we've see, soviet power, victory”). Is this just to take note of themselves?

I must admit that “Red Revolution” is very diversified album. It’s heavy, sometimes brutal, but mostly lively. For me this is a big advantage. We have two vocals, which are just great and perfectly fits to other instruments. Bass and guitars are excellently heard. Generally production is one of the biggest virtues of this album.

At last since previous album we have some good solos! Well… maybe they are not mastery, but they hold the fashion. Riffs are strong and fast, but they get into ear and we beg them to stay there for some time.

As to drums… well… they are just masterpiece… Cloud gave us everything what he had. Man! Thanks for that! The whole album is based on rhythmical section. I think that drums and bass are the main attraction of this release. Really, they deserve for good treating.

To sum up: Anal Stench released very good album. It’s one of my favorites for a long time. You can spend great time listening to “Red Revolution”. You an laugh, you can shake your head, you can jump, and of course you can sing Anal’s version of Russian anthem :)

GREAT ALBUM!!!!!
