Omniscient, Indifferent, and Solitary... - 84%

After listening to Nav' demo material before listening to this album, it is definite this band has improved musically, and production quality has improved tremendously. That is not to say the production quality is top notch by any means, but if you like your black metal somewhat raw sounding, you'll probably enjoy this.

The riffs on this album are actually a bit more 'complex' than typical black metal guitar lines. A lot of black metal bands I've noticed do not change the chord progressions very often... whereas Nav' changes riffs multiple times throughout the songs. Some of the riffs I've found have a thrashy feel to them, and most of the music on this album generate somewhat of a combative battlefield type atmosphere. Not all of the songs are thrashy but tracks 5 and 6 certainly are.

Vocals on this album are up to par with black metal standards and occasionally the singer has an almost Skinny Puppy vocal sound to it if you are familiar with that, but not very often. Drums change frequently throughout the songs, as opposed to the usual "one beat, one riff for 10 minutes" formula I find more often than not in black metal these days.

I've Enjoyed this album for the past 30 minutes, but I am not going to tell you that it is groundbreaking in any sense. It is above average however, and worthy of the rating I have given. Proper recording quality for a black metal album with sometimes thrashy riffs, and more riff changes than usual for a black metal album. Every instrument complements the other... (minus a crappy solo in track 4 that makes your ears want to bleed) .
