Eurasia - Something different - 86%

Demon_of_the_Fall, August 7th, 2003

Avalon came as quite a surprise to me as a friend liked their album cover one day and started listening to them in a used cd store. He ended up picking it up and now here i have another used copy. This is actually some quality Euro power metal, and different than your usual Power Metal group. What avalon does differently than most is that they don't try and go over the top with countless double bass or scretching guitar licks but instead only use when nessesary for more of an effect. Also avalon has plenty of Prog Metal infuences in their music and at times sound like they are writing some egyptian music in the background. It's hard to believe that a band as talented as this with excellent hard and soft songs hasn't been mentioned once to me. Chitral Somopala (vocalist) is very fucking talented and puts all the feeling in every second of his music. These guys deserve way more success and credit, and they havn't even been heard yet. Fucking great album by all means! The production for Eurasia is surprisinly very very good. Every instrument sounds clear, and the mix is stupendous. All the songs on here are quality material, but i suggest this album mainly to people with an open mind who like Soft Metal and Heavy Metal. Most of this album is heavy though. I suggest this album to anyone who is looking for something different and interesting because it is highly enjoyable. It may be hard to find but it's a Keeper.
