Deadborn - Decades of Decapitation

High Quality Death Metal With No Compromises. - 90%

meesh, July 16th, 2006

A brutal assault of precise, technical death metal with a melodic edge is supplied to us in the the form of this 4 track MCD by german band DEADBORN. Right from the opener, Condemned to Perdition, we get four songs full of twists and turns, varying tempos and killer blasting sections.

Each track has it's own unique structure, groove, and feel, preventing the tracks from becoming repetitive. The guitars sound flawless, and the assault of riffs is complimented greatly by Foltyns precise, intricate patterns of percussional madness. The vocals are deep and brutal, yet the phrasings are catchy and spaced well within the songs keeping it from becoming monotonous.

I can't really compare any bands with DEADBORN as they have established their own sound, high quality, which is only enhanced by the production of their music. Some say they are a Necrophagist clone but I don't really see any similarities, apart from the killer production and hard work ethic of both bands, musically they are in two different sectors of death metal.

Wrapping up, this MCD is of very high quality for a first demo release, recorded at the Depths of Torment and mixed and mastered by Christoph Brandes, the sound quality is nothing short of flawless. Keep your eye on these guys as they are sure to pave a clear path in this genre. This release definitely deserves a spot in any death metal fans collection.
