Mortal Treason – A Call To The Martyrs

Ever since the releases of All That Remains “This Darkened Heart” and Unearths “The Oncoming Storm” , I didn’t think an album would ever blow me away as much as they did. Mortal Treason blows so many metalcore bands right out of the water with this one CD alone. The CD is just a complete solid piece of work all of the way through, not one disappointing song.

The CD opens with the intense scream of vocalist Seth Kimbrough in the song ‘Khampa Nomads”. Seth is one of the most unique vocalists with one of the largest vocal ranges by any metal scream that I have ever heard to date. From a soft whisper, to a high pitched to scream, down to very low death metal like vocals. The guitar work is solid and extremely catchy throughout the entire album, but the only problem that I can come up with is they get a tad repetitive, but nothing to complain about at all. The drum work is just as good as any metalcore band, great blast bursts and a lot of extremely fitting drum beats for the huge number of breakdowns played on this CD.

In conclusion, if you are a fan of metalcore in the least bit, this is without a doubt a must have CD in your collection. Incredible vocals, good instrumental skills, and some of the best breakdowns and catchiest metalcore music I have ever heard. By no means is Mortal Treason a ‘generic’ metalcore band, at least give these guys a try. Great band, incredible CD. Do not hesitate with this release!
