Slavland - Szepty starych dębów

Slavic History and Pagan past - 95%

Cernobog, August 23rd, 2007

This pagan metal band started somewhere in 2001 and has already brought 6 full-length albums and one demo in the world.

I already listen to Slavland for a few years, and I can say that Szepty Starych Dêbów is deffinitily my favourite album. With combining a lot of folk with strong pagan metal, Belzagor really makes slavland one of the best pagan metal bands.

Szepty Starych Dêbów is slavlands fourth full-length album and counts seven songs. Really worth listening is song 3 (Objawienie) and song 7 (Lipowe Bogi). Both songs contain excellent folk melodies, with extreme drums and pagan metal. Especially in the intro of Lipowe Bogi, where you can hear a calm folk melody without metal, but with fast bass drum.

The songs listen well, each having his part you want to listen over and over. This album comes close to perfect pagan metal but what Belzagor needs to do is finding or use a real drum, and not a drummachine. There are two ways Belzagor uses vocals on this album, and that is typical black metal screams and clear low male voice. If you are going to try this band, you absolutely have to listen to this album, but the other albums are also very powerfull. I hope Slavland continues to make pagan metal like this but then with real drums.

This is really the album that demonstrates Slavlands potential. In short, this is a fantastic album that any pagan metal fan will surely be glad to own.
