Communic - Conspiracy in Mind

Highly recommended demo! - 85%

makaze, September 14th, 2004

Communic is a new name on the Norway's metal scene - actually not that new to the people who were into works of progressive/power/thrash metal band Ingermanland. Communic was created from the ashes of Ingermanland during 2003 by it's mastermind Oddleif Stensland. He joined forces with Tor Atle Andersenom (Scariot) and Erik Mortensenom (Dimension Psychosphere, ex-Ingermanland), continuing with the type music they were playing already. In the beginning of 2004 first demo was recorded, entitled "Conspiracy In Mind", which is (judging by it's quality) professional album, not just another demo. Production is extremely good, their playing technique is on the high-level and songs themselves are great. There are no bad sides on this release. We are dealing with the guys that know what they want! "Conspiracy In Mind" comes with only 3 songs, but over 25 minutes of playtime - again, much more than you would get on avegare demo. First song, "Conspiracy In Mind", is the most powerful and the most agressive, in the vein of Nevermore's first two albums or mid-era of Nocturnal Rites. Althought Communic sounds a bit like these two bands, they are far from being just a clones! They are giving their personal touch to the music, which guarantees success. Second song, "Ocean Bed", is without any doubt a peak of this demo. Great music, mixed with energetic vocals and powerful chorus. The last track, "Dreamweaver", is almost 10 minutes long and is dark side of Communic's music. Very deep and mysterious melodies, strange guitar effects, atmospheric keyboards. Pure darkness! I still can't understand how record labels can ignore Oddleif and his music, when Communic deservs attention more than any other band in the underground scene! I highly recommend you to buy this demo and support band and of course - enjoy in great music...
