Mental Horror - Abyss of Hypocrisy

chaotic blasting harmonious metal of death - 90%

optimuszgrime, February 12th, 2008

This second full-length album of this awesome Brazilian band has still got me mesmerized, even after a year of owning it. Every time I listen to it something new can be found, some new riff or intricacy to the music I have not yet heard, something is always added on to the fray. The music is pure seething chaos, just as with the first one. The same crazy melodies and the same crazy non-stop blast beat drumming is present, and not only does this music absolutely own in terms of melodic value, but also in terms of speed and brutality, even if they lack precision. Although with the songs being this much abut chaos and sounding so much like a maelstrom, it is not really even noticeable in my opinion. The whole of the music is basically like the first album, no improvement has come to them, but they also have not become any worse. It is still the same vision and same sound as they always make, and this is their hallmark contribution to the metal scene, the unchanging and chaotic sound of their music should be something that is hailed as one of the top most achievements in death metal. Superb album, worth every penny of the 12 dollars this CD will cost you.
