Red Warszawa - Return of the Glidefedt - Greatest Hits Volume 5

Heaviest RW album yet! Great!!! - 93%

Brat1983, April 26th, 2005

Red Warszawa is one of the funniest heavy metal bands around. They write some of the coolest lyrics to ever have seen the day of light, so it's a real shame for the rest of the world that most of their songs are in Danish.

The fifth album from RW is entitled Return of the Glidefedt (glidefedt is Danish for some vaseline kinda shit...), and after a short intro we get to the titletrack which completely blasts me away every time I hear it. So fucking heavy and fast! The lyrics are about some guy who used to be gay and now he's gay again because he got sick of the bitchin'. It's a really funny song.
Next song is Skinboy. (If you wanna see why they wrote this song, then click into http://www.skinboy.dk) The song is about some sick bastard who claims to be a "nazi-gay". Catchy song with weird lyrics!

And the songs continue with various topics. Racist right-wing shitheads (Åndsfraværende Folkeparti), drinking (Bo Bodega, Alkohol), drugs (Metadonmix fra Maribo, Technoparty, Rygeheroinchancen) and some other weird shit. Lost of this are impossible to translate properly, so I won't even try.

Most of the album are straight forward heavy metal with different influences from all kinds of stuff. Technoparty for instance, seems to be VERY much inspired by Rammstein. Oh, and check out Nabilat. It has this somewhat funky guitarplay without bass or drums and after the verse it explodes into the fastest piece of music I've ever heard these guys play. Morten Nielsen is indeed a great drummer!!

There's also a couple of songs that slow songs down a bit. Alkohol is played acoustic... It actually sounds as if they put ordinary guitar strings on a Spanish guitar. This track is a cool drinking tune :-)

Last track on the cd is a cover of the godawful track that Erann DD (a Danish crooner...) wrote and recorded for the Danish Prince couple in 2004. I never liked that song (and it's actually sickening to think of the fact that the song was a gift from the entire Danish people to the couple!)! I must admit though that RW's version is much better and much more fun to listen to. Jens sings it admirably beautiful!!! (you have to hear it to believe it!!!) On the other hand, he's always had an extremely beautiful singing voice :-) (note: sarcasm may have occured in the last few lines)

I recommend everybody to get this album! Even if you're not Danish (hey, it's not your fault, you poor thing ;-)), musically there's a lot to pick up from this album. RW is always making a big fuzz out of saying that they're terrible musicians but they aren't!! They're full of musically great ideas!!

Go and get this now. You won't regret it.

Oh yeah, the front cover... It kinda looks a bit like the backcover of Iron Maiden's Somewhere in Time (or is just me who's wrong), but changed just right for the album title :-)
