Barbarity - The Wish to Bleed

Awesome - 78%

Sclera, December 17th, 2006

This album is a great big barrel of fun. Seriously. The guitars are tuned down to something ridiculous like A, the production is fat and the vocals are killer. Sure, it’s generic, but it’s so incredibly awesome. It’s like party death metal.

Guitar and bass are the main instrumental focus here. The guitars have an ugly, fat tone that really compliments the riffs. The bass is loud and chunky and really puffs up the sound of the album. The pumping kick drum and low, thumping snare sit well in the bass-friendly mix.

Most of the songs are really short; less than three and a half minutes. The only song that stands out is the title track. At about 21 seconds, and I shit you not, it randomly cuts out of the song and goes into the main riff from Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here’. I shit my pants laughing when I first heard it.

Not at all groundbreaking, technical or anything else worth mentioning, this album is great fun and really enjoyable.
