CAN YOU FEEEEL? FEEL THE POWER? - 100%

nightbreaker33, January 8th, 2024
Written based on this version: 2023, Digital, Ultraprime Records (Bandcamp)

Feelings of Fury is without a doubt the best Ostrogoth album which also means it is also my favourite one. Don't get me wrong, the two previous albums are also true metal classics but the Belgian metal legends have surpassed themselves with this awesome third album! I played this album to some metalcore posers and their balls literally fell off. Trust me, it really happened, I saw it. They couldn't even handle Peter De Wint's extremely manly voice because they tried to cover their ears with their hands. That my friends is the way of the true poser. Don't be like these guys and listen to some real music. Yeah, I understand the world has problems and don't want to listen to wild music, but how can you explain the fact that they listen to metalcore/emocore music songs about death and murder. OK OK, I understand what you say, this is boomer music because it is an old album. Well just listen to this one album and all the well-known classics (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth) so that you won't have a burnout. Listen to my advice. I'm right.

"Feelings of Fury" has 0 weak songs. I even liked the ominous-sounding atmospheric intro "Conquest". The next song "Introduction" has some very cool changes and ideas, awesome solos, high-tempo drums, and phenomenal vocals. Play that song on repeat while you are working out and you will "feel the pumping" 100% "Samurai" has some nice Japanese melodies but it still is a very fast and furious song. The best song here is without a doubt "We Are The Ace". It has an awesome intro, an awesome chorus and it is an overall encouraging song and not too complex. I'm kind of saddened that they cut that song from their live setlist. F.O.F also has some slightly darkly romantic songs such as "Love Can Wait" and "Vlad Strigoi" which are excellent. They have a lot of melodic moments unlike the colossal musical masterpiece of anger "The Hunter" but they still sound very inspired. The song I like the least here is "What The Hell Is Going On" but it is still not that bad and it won't affect my overall review score. For Your information, F.O.F is without a doubt a very angry-sounding record as the title suggests and Peter De Wint did an astounding job on the vocals department. Overall, I believe that in order to write songs such as "The Hunter", "Introduction" and "We Are The Ace" you must have an IQ of 7000. I'm not joking.

The addition of Crossfire's Peter De Wint was without a doubt a very clever choice made by the band and it almost gave them a new identity. Ostrogoth would be reunited with DeWint for the 2002 split album with Doro and Killer. The amazing thing is that he also sounded so goddamn good there as well. Overall Feelings of Fury is the best metal album of the 80's in my opinion and the best album of the band. The band also has a very strong line-up right now and they keep going strong hopefully for a long time.

Fun fact: Austrian band Godzilla completely ripped off "The Hunter" for their song "Maniacs" and also Austrian AOR band Break Point ripped off "Samurai" for their song "King of Hell".

Best Songs:

"We Are the Ace"
"Introduction"
"The Hunter"
