Chainsaw - ...Satan I Obey!

TRIUMPH OF SATAN!!!! - 70%

Skullhammer, March 27th, 2005

With a band name like Chainsaw and a demo name ...Satan I Obey! you can tell this is old school black metal. The production is bad, but in a good way. It's in the old school 80's black metal way. These 4 tracks are pretty interesting but nothing amazing. I got a feeling if they had more time, they would've done a better job.

Ready To Nail reminds of me of early Sodom especially in the main riff. The vocals are just like the old school Brazilian bands of the 80's. There's a decent solo near the end.

Into The Abyss is the worst track here being a boring 2:47 long instrumental. Monotonous riffing and drumming make it extremely boring.

Then comes in the highlight Triumph of Satan. Fantastic vocals and a kickass main riff. The vocals are really fucking good. Death Messiah lets it all out during the chorus with shrieking TRIUMPH OF SATAN!!!! The solo around 1:45 reminds me of Celtic Frost.

Black Pest being the last track here is decent. There should've been more vocals though and it ends rather abruptly.

Basically all these tracks are decent with the exception of Into The Abyss. There's nothing very catchy or anything that pulls you in. In fact, the only reason I probably enjoy it is because I got a hard-on for old school black metal. In the end, these songs are like 3rd rate versions of the short but sweet Hellhammer tracks on the Triumph Of Death demo...
