Front Beast / Black Howling - Black Howling / Front Beast

Heavy Metal United With Black Metal - 77%

I_am_thy_abyss, January 27th, 2006

There is not that much to say about this split with BH and FrontBeast, there are only two tracks (one for each band), where we can feel that Heavy Metal meats Black Metal on a unique way.
The FrontBeast track walks by in a slow structure, with this NWOBHM spirit, inspired by such riffage as Witchfinder General with a compass where we find influences from Manowar or something on that genre, where the bass haves a important place. We feel the BM spirit mainly on the cold vocals, but then the speed gets more fast, almost in a punkish way, and the BM side is much more visible... very unique style for Frontebeast's track.
Black Howling haves a much more "raw" production, that show to us a more BM feeling when compared with the FB track. The very adictive and varied riffs turn this music into something with a great degree of imagination, as the vocals appear on a kind of aleatoric way, that is interesting. We can feel some improvisation from the part of BH's track, which is not bad, but a little bit confusing.
