Montreal - Entre el bien y el mal

DECENT - 60%

MONTREAL – ENTRE EL BIEN Y EL MAL.

Montreal is a nice and tight argentine band which fits in the category of hard rock/ melodic heavy metal. I first noticed this band when I picked a remaster of Bloke’s “Demolición” and it brought a whole bunch of covers by nowadays bands. One of them was Montreal; they did a pretty decent job covering “Paraiso Infernal”.
Here, the band shows a darker lyrical approach than before, a heavier and deeper guitar tone and a better production job. This band now pulls out all of their hidden Black Sabbath influences, manifested properly in the construction of the riffs and in the deepness of them.

We have efficient and convincing hard rock tunes like the title track, “No Se Banca”, “Rocker”, “Nada Es Eterno”, and 2 well-done Deep Purple covers, “Mistreated” and “Soldier Of Fortune” complete this release giving it a nice old time Rock & Roll vibe.

The choruses need to be less melodic and the keyboards are sometimes a bit annoying, but the band’s performance is tight and the vocals are quite good. So, all in all they have rounded quite a solid album.
