Baptism - Wisdom & Hate

Another amazing opus!!! - 95%

Kristenhat666, September 23rd, 2007

Having released their first album entitled "The Beherial Midnight", which remained stylewise within the boundaries of True Black Metal, BAPTISM did not long to make their music more accessible to the masses by changing their style on their next opus. Their album "WISDOM AND HATE" turned out to be just as anti-commercial as its predecessor, much to the delight of some of us, I must add.

"WISDOM AND HATE" deserves its title. BAPTISM have displayed a great deal of wisdom by keeping to the melodic, rather fast-paced BM they have become famous for, and have imbued the songs with an atmosphere of hate that every TBM band should have on its album! Anyone who has ever heard BAPTISM's first CD/LP and is hoping to hear another awesome collection of songs in the same style will relish every moment of "WISDOM AND HATE"! By this, I am definitely not hinting that the riffs are similar in any way, for they are not. And this is what I find impressive. No song has given me the feeling of having heard it somewhere before. In a few words, BAPTISM have created something different within the sort of music they have always played.

Hardly any bands within the BM scene can compare to BAPTISM nowadays. "WISDOM AND HATE" is another milestone of the Finnish TBM scene and a gem for the elite to keep in their collection!
