Red Warszawa - Skal vi lege doktor? Greatest Hits 1986-97 Vol. 2

Good follow up. Heavy and hilarious yet again :-) - 91%

Brat1983, June 24th, 2005

2 years after the release of their debut album, Red Warszawa returns with their second album, entitled Skal Vi Lege Doktor? (do you want to play doctor?) This second album maintains the style and power of the first album and it presents us with another set of cool heavy metal drinking songs :-) songs such as Slå Ihjel (Kill), Satanisk Kommunisme (satanic communism), Børnenes Domstol (Courthouse of the children) and Julemandens Selvmordsbrev (Santa's suicide note) - (read my review of the single of Santa's suicide note to get my opinion of that particular song) - has become classics among Danish heavy metal fans.

If you're looking for musical progression compared to the first album, you're gonna be disappointed 'cos this album is a direct follow up. It really brings you nothing new, but hey, that ain't necessarily a bad thing. There's some really cool heavy metal songs here with some very intelligent lyrics. "Joseph Stalin is our spiritual leader... and Leonid Bredsnev also had some funny ideas... but the world today is the most wicked I have seen... where a good commie is an ethnic minority", a little extract from Satanisk Kommunisme... just to give you a little idea of what this is about.

As already stated, this album is rather similar to the first stylewise.. It's pure heavy metal most of the way with the exception of the ballad, Onnanita, and the metal rap track, MC Nymands Rap. There also are a few interludes here and there where they play Danish children's melodies with other lyrics... One of those being about Kurt Cobain blowing his head off :-)

So what you get here is another RW album with catchy songs that are really suited for drinking with your mates, but also suited for hearing if you just wanna listen to some well played heavy metal. Very solid follow up to "Hævi Mætal og Hass".
