Visceral Bleeding - Transcend into Ferocity

Amazing Brutal Musicianship - 95%

burntblack, June 2nd, 2005

After hearing Visceral Bleeding's 1st album - "Remnants of Deprivation" I was frothing at the mouth to hear this one, and at first I was a little disappointed because it just didn't seem as focused and vicious, but after listening to it a couple more times I realized it wasn't the music that was missing something, it was my ability to hear it the way it really was written. Now I can't believe I ever didn't love it. The sheer velocity and brutality of it was just hard to soak in on a first listen. The 1st song,"Merely Parts Remain" is a juggernaut. Hyper-blasting rhythm with lots of forced harmonics highlighting the churning whirlwind of instrumentation. The vocals are so fucking fast, they have to be to keep up, and they are not as low as I personally would like, they are more powerfully rasped and grunted out, and they do compliment the music perfectly. The song is amazingly tight and perfectly executed, a tidal wave of brutal death. The lead is great but short, and at 2:40 in there is an amazing brekdown to a slower slamming riff. Song #2, "Fed To The Dogs" takes the level of violence up a few notches, almost impossible to believe. This song just rips everything inits way to shreds, again hyper blasting beats and incredibly tight and skull smashing rhythms, with super fast vicious vocals. I'm not going to go through every song this way, because I couldn't do them justice. This album is a stunner, I can't imagine a fan of super brutal death not loving this. I never would have believed this level of brutality was possible if I hadn't heard it.
