Diablerie - Seraphyde

electroMETAL - 90%

Paskkal, March 9th, 2006

Before hearing Diablerie if someone had told me that electronic metal can be as heavy as a death metal band, I would never have believed them. But, WOW, Diablerie is all that and a bag of chips. The first track starts off completely electronic and when I first heard it I was just waiting for the usual industrial style electro with indredibly simply guitarwork and dance beat drums all the way through. Well slap my ass and call me Sally cuz the guitarwork here is anything but simple and the drumming is all metal. Lots of fast palm-muting and snappy double pedal work. This album is just bursting with energy ready to burst your soft little ear-drums. Keys haunt the tracks in a 'background but still present' type of way similar to Samael. Actually the style is quite similar to Samael, but a bit more electro and different guitar style. The voice ranges from a total industrial sound to a more metal sound and fits nicely into the music although at points I find it a bit too dominating. The 11 tracks all distinguish themselves as complex pieces of art with numerous sounds acting together at any one time. This is definitely worth listening to since it's hard to describe a sound so complex, and should appeal to fans of electrometal and fans of other genres alike. I'm not entirely sure whether to dance or mosh to this... maybe a bit of both.
