Zadkiel - Hell's Bomber

The forerunner for later Abigail and Barbatos! - 85%

Ackman, November 14th, 2006

Wow, I got to say I was really impressed when I listened to this. These songs are like the direct parents of the blackened thrash 'n' roll of later day Abigail and Barbatos! The similarity is just amazing. If it wasn't for the gruffier and less growled vocals (like a japanese Lemmy that goes evil every once in a while), I wouldn't have doubted that these were Abigail songs, and as I love Abigail (though I do prefer the earlier Black Metal material), that's just great. These similarities can especially be heard in the first two songs, Miss Satan and Head Raver, which don't sound too far from Abigail titles either.

The song Hell's Bomber is a bit different from the rest, a bit more sombre and dark, and my least favorite song here is No, it Isn't, but it's still a pretty damn cool song.

All in all, I really recommend this to anyone who likes the bands I mentioned, or has any interest in thrash at all. This stuff is heavy, and although the recording and production are very lo-fi, you actually hear all instruments very well, and the demo has a good amount of low-end that's missing in these sorts of recordings. This stuff is just great.
