Haemoth - Vice, Suffering and Destruction

killer - 90%

Where to begin commenting on this great piece of black metal is hard. Over the past few years there has not been all too many decent black metal releases at all. Haemoth's Vice, Suffering and Destruction is well above par when it comes to recently release raw black metal. Soundwise, this album has all the grit and grain you would expect from a serious black metal band, but the mixing and overall execution is magnificent.

There is not a synthetic sound in sight, apart from some swirling noises in the opening seconds of the first track, Abomination. There is a general fast pace to the album, with quite a few moments of cold and grim passages. There are hardly any guitar grooves aside from a couple brief moments. Vocals are as you would expect from any black metal band, but with added distortion to accompany the grit.

Right from the moment Abomination kicks off the standard of Vice, Suffering and Destruction does not drop, consistency is retained right up until the end of the outtro track, save for one pitstop, the ambient guitar track Human Being (this pathetik worm). Some standout tracks are From the fucking Evngelik hatred, Vice and Destruction. These tracks are good examples of grim guitar riffs and brooding black metal music that Haemoth is so good at.
