Nachtmystium - Live Blitzkrieg

Grim Live Recording - 80%

Oligarch, October 16th, 2004

This is Nachtmystium’s second live release. This one only released on vinyl (so far anyway). Right off the bat, I will say that this has sentimental value since I was at the Blitzkrieg festival that side A was recorded at. That said, it is a raw live recording that does a great job in capturing the terror of that Nachtmystium show. The performance was so intense, it was awe-inspiring. The only drawback of the recording is that it has the 2 seconds of silence between each track that you get from a computer burning program. It sounds very unnatural to have that on a vinyl release. But the quality of the performance easily makes up for that.
Side B contains 2 additional live track from a different performance in Chicago, as well as an unreleased studio version of “Ashes to Ashes.”
This release is a great treat for diehard Nachtmystium fans. Especially if you happened to be at one of the 2 shows included on it. If you are a fan I would recommend trying to get your hands on a copy of this while they are still around. If you’re just starting on Nachtmystium, I would hold off on this and start with a studio recording. Then come back to this when you are rabid for more.
