Thorazine - Geneticide

Brutal - 96%

Znarglaxe, November 16th, 2003

Nothing like a good, brutal death metal album to make shit get broken. Thorazine's "Geneticide" is an example of a brutal death metal album mutated into something of immense destructive power. The odd way in which the brutality is pulled off makes the entire experience all that much more entertaining.

The alternating rhythm guitars on this album create an effect like someone punching someone in the face, alternating with each hand. They are extremely fast and break into either very distorted melodic solos, or some fast as fucking hell death metal shredding. The drums are a constant pummel and, although they sound a little tinny, the way they are played on this album actually uses that sound to its advantage. The bass, which can clearly be heard making the rhythm guitar sound like a goliath, adds even more to the experience by smashing the eardrums of all those listening. And the vocals are not so deep and gurgly that you cannot make out what the hell is being said or what the hell is going on. They are more the mid ranged kind of vocals like one would hear in bands like Obituary, or Suffocation.

I STRONGLY recommend this album to any and all brutal death metal fans looking for a brutally good time.
