Astrofaes - The Attraction: Heavens and Earth - 80%

This demo is a good atmospheric release that is not boring even though it retains none of the brutality of black metal. Synths are used alot here so if you don't like the use of them you probably won't like this. Having said that they are well used and they fit nicely with the music. One of my favourite aspects of this album is the vocals. I really like atmospheric BM where the vocals are very quiet and sound as though they are further away than the rest of the music. That is the effect created here. The riffs are good although the guitar gets buried beneath the synth. The drumming is very creative by black metal standards and certainly is one of the strengths of the demo.

The only real flaw is the synths being just a little too loud causing them drown out the guitar in places although I am sure this is intended. It is good demo and worthy of recognition.
