Oathean - The Last Desperate 10 Years as Ever

The Last Desperate 10 Years As Ever - 90%

DeadEyeLachrymal, October 26th, 2004

Seeing as how this is Oathean's third album, the talent the band presented was only improved by both previous albums. However, because this album consisted of mostly remixed versions of tracks from both The Eyes of Tremendous Sorrow and Ten Days In Lachrymation, their talent was lmited to what was new.

The first track was something new in both Black and Death metal. The method of including both what may to have been seen as, "innocent" vocals and Death growling. Written and Spoken in English, this intro was enough to give the album a good head start. It gives both the "atmospherical" sound that Black Metal listeners enjoy by using clean chimes and keyboarding to a calm grim riff to start.. Because Oathean has the capability to include their own style, Death Metal is still a vital factor. As the first track progresses, so does the melody.

A first time listener to Oathean will give great appreciation, if you have been listening to them since '97, this album will sure be a rewarding purchase.
