Mindmare - Disordered Existence

Well crafted melodic death metal - 70%

PainMiseryDeath, May 25th, 2004

17 minutes of mid to fast paced, aggressive, and well crafted melodic death metal. Yeehaw!

The rhaspy vocals here remind me a bit of Mikael Stanne from Dark Tranquillity, just a little bit harsher and a tad lower. There are some clean vocals on one of the songs, but they are still rather gruff. The guitars have an At the Gates-esque crunch sound to them, sounding almost Swedish. Plenty of catchy hooks and riffs in each song, and one great thing is that the music doesn't lose aggression when a lead riff or solo is being played. Drums are pretty good here too, they are just the right volume in the mix, and provide a solid foundation for the songs. For a demo, I sure as hell can't make the slightest complaint about the production. Top notch sound.

This Demo is promising for what may yet come to be with Mindmare's future. Perhaps they will soon be able to rival fellow countrymen Withering Surface, Aurora, or dare I say, Hateshpere. Time will tell.
