Galgeras - Reliekrover

Darkest Music - 94%

Nidhokk, April 16th, 2006

A compilation it is for sure. There are some better tracks than others on this release, but not one song isn't worthy of a compilation album. Opinions on Galgeras' music may vary a lot. They have a very individual musicstyle, and you either love it or hate it.

Something you hear constantly is the guitar. The sound Galgeras produces is very raw, yet pretty melodic. The drums can't be noticed as good as many other Black Metal bands, but this is absolutely a positive thing in this case. The drums melt together with the general sound. No blastbeats can be heard, as this would destroy the whole dark atmosphere.
The vocals are quite raw, and they're perfect for the general music. Raw vocals that make you feel like there is no hope left.

This release is definitely the darkest release I've ever heard.
Songs that stand out are:
Love Essenceless (an atmosphere that makes you feel hopeless)
Somberling (the best but also one of the weirdest vocals I've heard. Great atmosphere)
Forester (technical and dark)
Cast To Part (very dark with some electronic sounds)
Knife Of Infinite Kills (highly influenced by Darkthrone)

As you can see there are quite some songs that stand out (while it is already a compilation album). Galgeras is a band that shows the world from an other view. No lyrics about suicide are needed to give us the message to end our life, as the atmosphere is dark enough already.
