Haemoth - Satanik Terrorism

Satanic Tactics - 65%

DemonFeces, November 27th, 2007

Haemoth is a two-man project, one whose name is Haemoth. He performs vocals, guitars and bass while Syht helps with drums. They hate you. They despise you. And they don't give a fuck. Got it?

Crisp and raw, words that usually don't follow each other, unless the subject in question was left for dead in the desert sun for a number of months. But in this case, it's France's Haemoth that have achieved just that. This is black metal that is weirdly crisp in production yet raw in tone. The title track should be mentioned here for it's thrashing ending, but overall the guitars are more of a lumbering,
semi-melodic, tremolo-chug and the drums are largely blast beat-free.

This mid-pace quality leads to an atmosphere that never seems to leap from the speakers with a strangling fury. The album is devoid of solos but not keyboards, as heard in 'Agios O Baphomet!' Thankfully, Haemoth's vocals are as raspy as a rattlers and he uses them to great effect, though somewhat buried in the fuzzy distortion of riffs and drum fills. Even with 7 songs, two of which are under 1 minute, it still runs a length of 39:28.

On this album, 'Satanik Terrorism,' Haemoth are floating on a heaping cloud of distortion, staring you down with beady eyes and blackened souls, waiting for that moment to tear you asunder. Be sure to commit heinous acts and send miscellaneous body parts to them at their carefully listed address so that on the next album that can actually happen.
