Urkraft - 2000

Danish underground metal... - 90%

yggdrasill, November 17th, 2005

This is the brilliance of the underground scene in Svendborg. This album blows my fucking mind away. I don't get why these guys play some low-budget main-stream metal music these days. This demo really gives the picture of some really talented young guys, playing som original metal music.

The album has a really good changes in the rythm througout the album, original poor-sound simple but catchy guitar playing, and general cheap underground sound, but it really connects to some lower primitive elements of my inner drive to life. I esspecially like the first song "af hele mit hjaerte", it drives throug really optimistic drum rythms, to very slow driven beats, to extreme fast driven drums. And the guitar playing is really primitive, but it changes in good response to the song and the front vocals. Sometimes the guitar playing even becomes melodic, beautiful, slow, and doomish in its depressing rythms, but changes back to more fast driven riffs.

The other songs of the demo are also very good composed, but I must say, that "af hele mit hjaerte" is my favorite song of Urkraft. And I guess, that the good old days of Urkraft are all long gone.
