Psilocybe Larvae - Stigmata

amazing album. - 93%

Gin, August 2nd, 2004

Psilocybe Larvae’s first release is probably one of the best debuts I’ve ever heard. The song writing is so complex, that one would think that this band has at least a few albums under its belt. This cd delivers a very unique mix of death/black, doom, and even folk metal. This band, unlike most bands from that region is not afraid to use acoustic guitars in their work, and that delivers another dimension to the whole cd, by adding a feeling of warmth to the mostly gloomy atmosphere of this album. And although that you can say by the lyrics that English is not their first language, even that fact doesn’t ruin the cd, mainly because this band is much more music-oriented then lyric-oriented. This album is a good buy if you like slower, doom-ier death/black, and don’t mind some folk thrown in it.
