Spazmosity - Storm Metal

Sick, Epic Black/Death Metal - 93%

BassLord, January 23rd, 2006

I’ll admit that Spazmosity is kind of a silly band name, I was even reluctant to check them out just because of their name. But I’m glad I did because this band is awesome. From start to finish, this demo is a total epic black/death assault that draws many similarities to bands like Dissection and Naglfar.

Intro track “The Curse of Blood” starts out with mellow acoustic guitars before bringing in the heavy riffs. The slow speed and melodies of this intro certainly help to build up to the first song “Oceans of Flesh”. Right away we are greeted with blasting drums, growling vocals, and razor sharp melodic riffs. This song also contains many dynamic shifts, switching riffs and tempos very often, and also adding black metal shrieks as well. Also featured is some tastefully melodic guitar soloing.

The next song “Enter the Storm” carries on in a similar style as the first, but is overall more mid-paced and brutal, but with speed bursts and blast beats as well. The album’s closer "Purgatorio” perfectly sums up what this band is all about, and also features some weird sampled dialogue.

I’m very surprised this band hasn’t scored a record deal yet, especially since they have been a band for more than ten years. Hopefully, Storm Metal will gain them the attention they deserve.
