This album is pretty rockin', kinda heavy, kinda thrashy, kinda good. For the most part it's just black/thrash covers of old school thrash songs played in a very raw, "fuck production, I'm kvlt" way. The guitars aren't super distorted so it's easy to hear the melodies and such, the vocals are good, pretty hard to understand what he's saying most of the time though. The best parts are when they yell the chorus in their non-harsh vocals, the Japanese accents are just so funny. But the very best parts, are introductions on the songs that were recorded live. Speaking in Japanese in this really excited manner, then saying "This is uhh Razzzzorrrrr!" It's nothing short of grand. The songs are good though and or the most part pretty well played, it's not really an outstanding album because it's just a tribute. One of the original songs "Rape Rape Rape" probably has the worst production of a non-live track on the album. It's short, to the point but the vocals just can't be understood. Not only that, but the booklet is just a paper insert with a track list, contains no lyrics so you'll have no idea what the song is about, other than of course, rape.

That's about all there is to say about this cd. It's not spectacular. But it's not bad either. If you're a fan of old school thrash, and blackened thrash acts like Absu and you see it for a pretty low price, I'd go ahead and get it.

Album title says it all, folks - 85%

Cut Throat are a relatively unheard-of blackened thrash band from Japan, with Mirai from Sigh on vocals. The musicianship is pretty damn tight, and, while the album is slightly raw, it doesn't take away from the music at all. The riffs are clear and melodic, and any fan of old school and new school thrash, as well as bands like Absu (this is essentially en extremely simple version of Absu, and resembles them a lot at times) will enjoy this release. Drums are quite simplistic, but a lot of thrash drums usually...are, so you don't really miss much, seeing as how this is just supposed to get you headbanging, not make you decipher the time signature everything is played in. The leads are very enjoyable, especially on Smoking Gun as well as a few other songs. The main draw here is just the sheer amount of headbanging riffs this album contains. They even have the vocals harmonize with the guitars, ala Arghoslent, at times. Really catchy stuff, and most versions, if not all, include some live tracks and covers. If you can find this for, say, less than 15 or 16 bucks, get it by all means.
