Down in china, a country led by communism, bands have long since struggled to spread their music. With the help of mort records the small but extreme chinese metal scene has been able to find it's way out.

Dream of Moribund is purgatory's debut album is a great display of the asian metal scene as a whole. With the middle-eastern type influences as well as the classic european sound. The album includes a bit of synth influenced black metal which really ends up making Purgatory's overall sound become extremely memorable. While the added synthesizers really make the album have a darker atmosphere, Purgatory rely heavily on the traditional raw black metal sound. Though the problem i have found with the leading chinese metal pioneers is that their form of raw bm, while being really harsh lacks all form of atmosphere.

Overall the release is a good candidate if you're into the harsher more raw black metal, but to most black metallers i'd stay away from this release due to it's lack of atmosphere being compressed to a few seconds per song.
