Threnody of the Impaled

Sick, brutal, blasphemous and right down evil is the only way to describe this aggressive Texas death metal band. Reign of Terror has once again outdone themselves with their latest release Threnody of the Impaled.

ROT's bass-intense sound & churning darkness with doom-like and yet erratically aggressive riffs only intensifies the horrendously racing tempos and masterfully-executed speed drumming. With plenty of blast beats and double bass drumming, Marc "The Engine" Arredondo exercises the control, evenness, and accuracy to produce the "speed" for which ROT has made its mark.

CJ Holguin provides the heavy bass lines that set the heavy, dark mood to give variety to the fast and intricate riffing guitarist Richard Osmond lays down. CJ's vocal style artfully epitomizes the occult messages of the songs through skillful use of higher and lower vocals.

Several of the tracks such as "Damned," "Sado-Sodomite Communion," and "Cruel Trades" create an image of their lyrical content through cleverly written intros. Most of the songs' lyrics are true to the death metal genre -- brutal, sick, and cruel-but some lyrical content is perhaps more occult and blasphemous than the rest.

Threnody of the Impaled is an album worth having as these gods of metal hail their fast, dark and evil sounding death metal-heavy riffs, beckoning metal fans to bow to a sinful listening pleasure of musical compositions that lend considerable strength to their lyrics.
