Vermeth - Your Ruin...

One of the finest LLN releases ever. - 100%

LordBelketraya, June 30th, 2005

Vermeth is another group by 'The Black Lord Beleth'Rim' of Torgeist and Amaka Hahina fame. He clearly has to be the most underrated member of the whole Les Légions Noires circle. The material released by this person has been of high quality on a consistent basis. He's been overshadowed by better known members of the LLN such as Lord Meyhna'ch, Lord Aäkon Këëtrëh, Vordb Dréagvor Uëzéërb and Wlad Drakkstein, etc.. Who would've thought that the French could make such disgusting, sick, evil and raw black metal better than the Scandinavians? The language of love? Tell that to these sick men, who seem with some of their song titles to have invented some new crazy language. I'll get into this when I review Amaka Hahina and Moëvöt.

Anyway, to the music. 'Your Ruin..' is one the best albums not only for the "true" LLN scene but for Black Metal in general. The intro and outro is similar to a Belkètre song called 'If We Had...', very sick stuff and it enhances the mood more. Everything in between the intro and outro is the stuff of black metal legend, the guitar is played to evil perfection and is catchy as hell (no pun intended). I'd say that it's similar to sounding like early Burzum with the mid tempo riffing. Black Lord Beleth'Rim's voice is a growl that stretches for a few seconds into the song. It's one of the most disturbing voices in bm. It's the only LLN album of the new decade that comes closest to sounding like the stuff from the halcyon days of the circle in the early to mid-90's, (I'd throw Amaka Hahina's 'Aheah Saergathan!' in there too BTW.)

This is one of the few albums in which I can listen to every song and not say that one is mediocre. My standout tracks would be 'Eternal Dark Being', Unholy Rapture' and 'The Black Legions'. I'd put 'Your Ruin...' in the top 5 of best LLN releases period. If you have the rare chance of seeing this cd in a small music store with obscure releases or on ebay grab it quickly. This is out of print and will be sought after more and more as the years pass by. Mainstream black metal will sound watered down compared to this. A classic.
