Pactum - Summa Imperii Satanae 666

Highest quality black metal - 100%

Milos, April 9th, 2008

Few years back, when I just started to listen black metal, I wanted to hear Peccatum and I ordered this album by mistake, because of similarity of band's names. I am glad that happened, because later when I heard Peccatum I didn't like it at all and this album... Well, I think it's one of the best albums ever and I consider myself a lucky guy because I have it.

There are six songs entirely and I can't say which one is the best because they all rule. Every fucking second on this album is great. Every riff, every melody is perfectly put together; I can't imagine that it could be done better than this. Songs are very complex. There are a lot of riffs in every song, the rhythm changes all the time, but it is done magnificent. Vocals are maybe a little similar to Hat on first Gorgoroth album, which is a good thing, because I really like his vocals. All instruments are perfectly arranged. I can hear some death and thrash metal influences, especially in guitars, but still it's pure black metal album. Also the bass plays a large role in band's music which is not usual on black metal albums. Also I want to say that there are no blast beats, which is really rareness on today's black metal albums. Don't get me wrong, there are many fast parts, but they are not that fast to be called blast beats. When I mentioned drums, I must say they are great. Rhythms are changing non-stop and they are played very well.

If you want to hear this band, try with this album, because their next album is not that good. I was very disappointed when I heard it. They put some songs from the new album on their Myspace page and they even sound worse, so if you want to hear Pactum get this album and enjoy.
