Terror Extravaganza - 74%

Danthrax_Nasty, April 27th, 2004

Glorified mediocrity would be the best way to sum up this album. There are many parts on here that are very good, but overall there are also areas that lack in the originality department. Released in 2003 on Desoalte Landscapes, and containing one hell of a fine fucking production and sound, one could easily label this as typical unholy black metal. There are thrashy parts, melodic parts, full on black hatred parts, even some ambient and nice clean work, but one thing this album lacks is any semblance of true uniqueness. There are parts like on "Its What You Wanted" that standout from the rest of the album due to much needed original ideas, and basically finding their own true killer sound but it only makes up for so much.

I do find a good deal of worth in this album for the fact that it is what it is, and that is true metal. The layout is another fine asspect of this album. The cover, which I believe is a Fransico Goya piece, is an odd dark work which is representative to the dark and weird contrast to this bands overall sound. The band photo within the booklet has some blured out black and white pics and "Anti - Life, Anti - God." written across the top, which tells you a bit about what this band stands for.

There are many parts of this release that do totally own, and kick ass. Like the song "Ignorant Fuck" which has a fairly original approach to black metal in its sound and riffing, and also gets some what catchy. This album is not for every one, and especially not those who despies novelties such as this which make up for originality by keeping it true.
