Astral Gates – World’s Covenant

What can I say about this release? Well, they're... nope. There's also the... um...

I just don't have the energy. The vacuum that is Astral Gates sucked it all out of me.

The vocalist tries too hard, giving every track an irritating Nu-Metal sound. The drums and bass are mixed too low, so every track sounds thin. The guitars are competent enough, but not original in any respect. Sure, the licks are interesting and all, but they don’t go anywhere with them. It all sounds stilted and practiced. No energy at all. This is metal, guys!

So there we have it - 10 irritating, thin, unoriginal, and uninspired tracks that bored me to death. At one point, I got distracted with the album still playing in my headphones and completely forgot I was listening to it! I tried to get up and almost yanked my earbuds right out of my head. I could easily read a book and listen to this album simultaneously, and still accurately describe the plot.

I give them props for being decent musicians and all, but that's it. I have no reason to ever listen to this album again, and plan to delete it off my iPod as soon as possible.
