Infinite Defilement - Disgorging Humanity

One Man To Rule Them All! - 85%

slammage, December 10th, 2013

Its hard to find a good one man band these days with such a flooded market of underground brutal death metal but this album Disgorging Humanity, from the one man band Infinite Defilement, crushed my skull over & over with its groovy tremolo riffs & powerful slam riffs combined with some really nasty guttural vocals & well programmed drums.

The album contains nine full tracks, an outro & a bonus track with a real drummer on an electric drum kit which is probably the only disappointment of the album. It would have been much better if the drummer had used a real drum kit. The CD clocks in at just over 40 mins which is pretty long for a brutal death metal album but it never gets boring to say the least.

The album opens up powerfully with the first track "Evolution is Law" which is probably the most slamming song on the album and also contains guest vocals from a few other one man and two man bands including Fetz from Egemony and Shane and Shaun from Intestinal Alien Reflux. The riffs will pound your skull the whole way through the song and leave you gasping for air by the time the second track begins. The second track "Crushing the Heretic" opens up with a long intro taken from the ranting speech by Peter Finch in the 1976 movie "Network" where he rants about how corrupt the world is and how TV is brainwashing people. Almost every song opens up with a movie passage that relates to the message written in the songs lyrics, mostly about government corruption, social disfunction, disease and war. It's a nice break from the typical brutal death metal lyrical themes about murder, rape and zombies. It's the one thing I don't like about brutal death metal is that almost every band's theme is about the same thing and it can get a little boring especially for someone who likes to read good lyrics.

My personal favorite song on the album is hard to choose but I would have to say that track 8 "Methodical Degradation" does it for me and the riff at 3:09 is so groovy you will most likely break your neck while headbanging to it. Each song builds nicely with fast riffs and then soul crunching slam breakdown riffs and there is even two short solos on the album in the tracks "Warped Morality" and "Human Reduction". The outro "The End," finishes the album off very nicely and leaves the listener feeling like they had just witnessed the end of the world and only ashes are seen floating into outer space!

The album was all written, recorded and mixed by Jacob Smith from his home studio in Melbourne, Australia. The production is very good and everything can be heard perfectly. The guitar tones are a little dirty which I prefer for this style of music and the drum programming is very nice and not too over the top that it drowns out the guitars and vocals. The only downside to the album is as I mentioned earlier the bonus track is not worth listening to and the intros to some of the songs can drag on a little long, so a little patience is needed by the listener. Also a hard copy of this album is very hard to find due to it being a limited press so most people will have to find a digital copy on the web. I am lucky enough to have a real copy that I bought back when it was first released.

Although this album is almost five years old now, it still stands up as one of the better one man albums in the brutal death metal scene over the past decade and I wanted to finally give it a review so others might read this and have a listen to it for themselves. 8.5/10

Crushing Australian Brutality - 100%

Pietro123, May 13th, 2009

Disgorging Humanity is the fourth release from Australia based Brutal Death Metal Band Infinite Defilement started in 2007-2008.
The band consists of One Man Jacob Smith on all instruments which are Guitar , Bass , Vocals , Drum Programming and he also produced this masterpiece

Having released a demo named Perpetual Desecration of Being in March 2008 (Self Released) which was a display of what’s to come from this sick one man band. Then in the same year in October 2008 released a 3 way split between Egemony (Italy) , Flesh Impaled ( Northern Ireland ) and Infinite Defilement released on Sevared Records. In the same month released a promo 2008 with 4 new songs named Promo 2008 ( Sevared Records ) With all these releases I was sure to expect crushing riffs , guttural vocals , and song arrangements that would smash your face.

And once again he composes a crushing , hate filled , 100% perfect album full of bone breaking guitar parts , perfectly executed drum programming , gut wrenching vocals manifesting themselves from a oppressed soul crushing all in it’s path leaving only floating ashes. The best song on the album is impossible to say , every song as its own character and it’s own message greed corruption and unjust actions.

The shortest song is 2:42 and the longest is 4:28 making it an album of around 40 minutes plus a bonus track which is Methodical Degradation with a real drummer on electric drums. I had high expectations for this song because it was one of my favorite track of the Promo 2008 release but with electric drum it feels a bit hollow to my taste if it was a real drum kit it would have been to phenomenal. Almost every song starts with a intro some shorter some longer , I think there is about two solo’s through out the album one is a bit shorter , but both complement excellently the songs

All in all its an excellent album full of devastating riffs mixed some of the most guttural and nastiest vocals I’ve ever heard. In my opinion this album deserves a 10 on 10 for all the meticulous attention to detail of every part of every instrument used on this recording. 2 every song is crushing from beginning to end and all ways reaching the pinnacle of it’s possibilities. 3 he plays the guitar , the bass , does the drum programming and mixing. Jacob Smith has surpassed all my expectations and exceeded them with bone crushing results.
