The pathologists are back and the autopsy's begun! - 95%

The two ultra-pathological grind bands are back and their scalpels incise you deeper than ever. Brutal yet technical grind in the spirit of the early days of Carcass.

The forensics of General Surgery are back after 12 (!) years but in their lengthy pause they have developped enormously. It's still the same old brutal grind, but more techinical in compositions and more clear in sound than ever. You get everything you know from the superb EP Necrology, but even more. This side alone is already worth the purchase of this great split.

The first full-length of The County Medical Examiners didn't have a great sound quality and the album actually sounded like it was from the early Carcass days. Those problems have completely been solved now and you can fully experience and enjoy the quality of this great old school grind trio. This side is almost as good as the General Surgery side, the Examiners don't let us down on this record.

These bands are the perfect match for eachother. Seriously, I couldn't have found two bands who would fit eachother better than General Surgery and The County Medical Examiners, well, maybe the old Carcass but that isn't going to happen.

A great split, not like the bad low quality grind splits you usually hear. It's really worth your money and comes very close to the way the gods of Carcass wanted it to be. So buy it now and prepare to be incised by the mighty scalpels of General Surgery and The County Medical Examiners!

This is an absolutely amazing pile of gore here. Both bands keep the muddy production, yet still audible music as Carcass "Symphonies of Sickness" era. This is great stuff.
To begin with General Surgery, I would say this is a flawless performance. The dirty production gives the music a sloppy quality, but in a very good way. The earth shattering riffs and pounding drums beat you with their gore-grinding delerium, while the pitch-shifted vokills and rancid screams tear apart your eardrums. This is pure gorey goodness.
For the TCME portion of the split, beautiful. This is one of my favorite gore bands by far. All of these guys are actual forensic pathologists, save one who is very close to becoming one. They have replaced the hot female pathologist who was on their first album with a 60 year old(seriously) shredder. Word is that he doesnt really listen to this type of music, but wanted to get involved anyway. KILLER. This is the best, and most true to the medical practice, gore grind out there. Carcass worship at its finest, and it doesnt even matter that Carcass influence is so obvious, because their music is so original(for being clones). Nearly the same muddy production provides an almost eerie atmosphere, a very dirty and disgusting atmosphere which is perfect for this music. Awesome guitar parts, killer drums. But the most stand-out part for me was the vokills. Not only are the mandatory screams and pitch-shifted gurgles there, but they are done better than most can even dream. There is a very wide vocal range, hoarse growls, ultra-toilet bowl gurgles, disgusting blood curdling screams. This is gorey perfection.
One of the greatest splits, if you like Carcass, or goregrind in general, pick this one up and mess up your undies.

After a 10 year hiatus General Surgery are back with a vengeance. This time teaming up with The County Medical Examiners. When most bands go on a ten year break you'd expect a lesser release than their classic stuff but General Surgery really pulls through. These songs are a bit different than the ones on their classic 93' release "Necrology". Not as raw and a bit more complex. Still absolutely great stuff though. Heavy riffs, great low and high growls, and hammering drums. Lyrics are pretty much the same topics, gore, pathological and some humor.
Now for County Medical Examiners. What a great match with General Surgery. Another great Carcass worshiping band. Sounds like Carcass era Symphones of Sickness. The vocals are made up of low growls and higher screams. The lyrics are a little more thoughtout mainly because some members were actually med. students. All and all this split delivers on both fronts and leaves nothing lacking.
