Depressing Doom - 85%

MetalThunder, February 26th, 2004

After their formation in 1995, Dismal have put out a consistant catalogue of releases. RUBINO LIQUIDO - THREE SCARLET DROPS is their fourth full-length album and continues in the same mould as their previous three releases -- depressing doom metal akin to the likes of My Dying Bride and Mirror of Deception.

The first track on the album is "Tre Scarlatte Stille" which is a slow instrumental intro, and this sets the tone for the rest of the album. After the intro is over with, sweet female vocals signal the start of the album proper. The popular combination of duel female and male vocals is employed on this album, and it works beautifully. The vocalists supplement each other perfectly.

Another positive point on this album is the Orchestration. The Orchestra is not over-used, and blends in well with the other elements of the music to increase the overall atmosphere of the album. So, if you like your doom metal depressing and atmospheric, RUBINO LIQUIDO - THREE SCARLET DROPS is definitely an album for you.
