Thy Rites - Thy Infernal Coronation

Worn out and loaded with filler crap - 60%

Werewolf, December 18th, 2009

Personally I expected to hear another bestial Brazilian attack of merciless Deathrash, but the result is pretty much different. It takes this album 2 minutes to start, since the intro, which is cut from some opera, lasts that long. And then the Metal kicks in, with decent Death Metal riffs and typical vocals, but then it mixes with more kinda Black Metallic melodic riffing and screams. I’m not a fan of mixtures of Death and melodic Black Metal, so the only thing I like here is the solos, since the melodic riffing doesn’t fit with the growling in my opinion.

Another thing I didn’t like here is the filler parts of non-Metal music. Apart form the intro in the beginning – the 7th, last song closes with 6 minutes (out of 9) of some female screaming with keyboards samples and primitive drums on the background. WTF?! Call me musically close minded if you want, but when I put a Metal cd in my cd-deck, I expect to hear some METAL! To add even more filler stuff to the album, there are also 2 bonus tracks, which are 2 songs form the album, probably recorded live and very raw sounding. If you’re into stuff like early Satyricon – you might like it, but it’s not a must.
