In-Quest Extrusion : Battlehymns - 95%

Choronzon, May 24th, 2003

After releasing a few demo’s of pure devastating grind under the banner of System Shit several members decided it was time for something more technical. This marked the beginning of In-Quest. The internationally acclaimed demo release “Rewarded With Ingratitude” firmly established this Belgian band in the underground community. Now several years later In-Quest returns with their first full length album. This album’s recording sound is raw and primitive but fits the band quite well. Songs like “Anti-Disestablishmentarism”, “Matrimonium” and “Extrusion : Battlehymn” are full of complex dynamics and tempo changes, inventive drum patterns, battering guitar-lines and inhuman vocal assaults. These vocals, done by lyricist/frontman Noise Grinder range from whispers, narrative parts to brutal death growls and bone-chilling black screams. Minimal keyboard-lines fill the remaining void in their broad sound and add a feeling of obscurity to the sound, without losing their obvious death/grind roots. Together with Prejudice this must be the best Belgian brutal technical death metal band in our regions.
